The gear and the pulley, the rotating mechanism of the Ferris wheel, needed to be assembled with a margin of error of ±0.2mm, so we took a lot of care in the precision of fabrication and assembly of the rotating mechanism parts.
We also had a difficult time in deciding the positions of the 9 gondolas, and ran into design problems during fabrication. We also experienced difficulties in reducing the flexure from laser cutting and forming of the main frame of the Ferris wheel.
The students learn the satisfaction of completing a piece, the joy of their work being recognized, and the desire to make better products.
It obviously is a great experience for them to feel the depth of manufacturing, and you can see it in their enhanced awareness for quality.
We were able to receive gold awards three years in a row, and I would like to thank Amada School and the selection committee.
