We thank you very much for the METI Award, and are much surprised to receive this honorable one. We greatly appreciate again your support.

The reason we decided to create this piece was that we wanted to challenge how to create an interesting one or new sheet metal products in different way and approach of manufacturing.

The extremely difficult part of this piece was the position, width and length of the slits at the tip of the piece. If the slit is not positioned properly, the bending is out of our expectation; If the width of slit is not the same, the sheet collides with each other in bending; If the slit is too wide, welding goes wrong - and we had to do it over and over again.

What we learned through the manufacturing process of this piece was that dividing the piece into two parts, although the programming time increased, brings particularly bending and welding time shortened, and we guess overall process time has been shortened due to this. In addition, we could form R bend shapes manually by these slits without making simplified molds or special molds, and reduce the costs for molds.

We would like to utilize this experience to exploit new work and impart technical knowledge to the younger generation, while improving my skill.
