In making this lantern we tried to reduce
and hide welding as much as possible, because we believed that we
had to faithfully duplicate the delicacy and elegance of our model,
the Yamaga Lantern (Yamaga tourou), which is made of only Japanese
paper and glue.
I think that we were able to faithfully duplicate the lantern thanks
to our superior development and design capabilities rather than processing
technology. Because our lantern was originally used in a showcase,
it incorporated electric lights, which possibly have enhanced its
appearance. The Gold Award? I can't believe it! I felt that other
entries were superior to ours in terms of their processing technology.
I would like to investigate different themes and make an entry worthy
of a gold award someday.
On the occasion of our entry to this contest, I realized that the
added value of pure innovation (the product) can be realized when
combining manual procedures and machine processes. I would like to
continuously make efforts in sheet metal processing with high added
value by blending the skills of machines and people. |
