Challenging the joining of stainless steel, permalloy, and copper—materials with vastly differing thermal conductivities, melting points, and thermal expansion coefficients. Driven by a culture of transforming setbacks into empirical data, when the chamber did not meet vacuum airtightness standards, it was not discarded. Instead, it was sectioned using in-house wire electrical discharge machining (EDM) to directly visualize penetration depth, heat-affected zones (HAZ), and joint interface dynamics, converting the result into shared technical knowledge. Conceived not as a failure, but as an experimental prototype charting future standards, this chamber condenses our technical precision and inquisitive spirit from welding through wire EDM.
