Designed in SolidWorks, this component is manufactured from special-grade 6061-T6 aluminium, which requires careful processing due to its structural characteristics. Blanks were cut on a 4kW VENTIS laser machine, leveraging locus beam control to deliver outstanding cutting speed and edge quality. Parts were then deburred and surface-finished using a Timesavers machine prior to forming. Precision bending was performed on an HRB 5020 press brake, which proved critical for tackling complex forming challenges on soft aluminium—including tight return folds, joggle bends, large-radius forming, and managing feature distortion near bend lines. Secondary operations were completed with precise countersunk holes. By pairing the extreme beam accuracy of the VENTIS laser with the high repeatability of the HRB 5020 press brake, we consistently meet tight aerospace tolerances while minimizing scrap and rework.
