Strengths

After researching the design of the work, the two students in charge of this project decided to build this car using two different methods: one half in “low-poly” and the other in “lamellar.” The 3D design was carried out with the software “SolidWorks,” under the constraint that all parts had to be either flat or folded (stamping was forbidden). The nesting of the parts required the use of a sheet metal plate with a maximum size of one square meter. The positioning of the parts relative to each other was achieved using mortise-and-tenon joints. The 82 parts were assembled by welding (spot welding with the MAG process). The four wheels were machined on a CNC lathe (CAD and CAM). The entire assembly was sandblasted before undergoing decorative chrome plating.
