We are grateful that our complicated three-ply construction of bottom part and precise reproduction of the top part were recognized highly to win the Gold Award despite this being our first participation. In particular, the review “we feel warmth although it is metal” delighted us, since that is exactly what we aim for in manufacturing.

This part was prompted by the “Tokyo Skytree” we saw in the media a few years ago – we wondered how we could reproduce the gallant structure. We wanted to keep the hand-made feel, so all bends and grinds were done manually. Seeing the part coming along was very satisfying, and it was not a painful process.

Our project was kept a secret at the company so we used few minutes during breaks and utilized scrap material. It took nearly two years to complete, but when we saw people at the Fair taking pictures of our project with their smartphones, it was like seeing your children in their proud moments, and we were able to feel the greatest satisfaction we have ever experienced. We would like to thank those who gave us this opportunity, and seeing all the pieces exhibited made us more than certain that there is no limit in manufacturing.

We don’t know when our next challenge will be, but we hope to participate in the Fair again with a product that will make people feel “manufacturing is fun”.
